A vehicle that plunged into the North Thompson River in May has been recovered, according to Kamloops RCMP. The woman believed to be the driver remains missing.

Benina Jepkoech, 23, is presumed to have driven the vehicle. She was last seen on May 15. The vehicle was found in the river approximately 15 kilometers from the town. No immediate signs of life were detected.

Search and Rescue teams have not yet confirmed whether the driver is still in the water. A renewed search is expected this month. The incident has raised concerns about safety on local roads.

This is not the first time the North Thompson River has been linked to missing persons. In 2021, a similar incident led to a prolonged search. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings.

The case remains under investigation. No official confirmation of the driver’s fate has been released.
