A federal judge in Miami dismissed Donald Trump's lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal and media mogul Rupert Murdoch. The case, which sought $10 billion in damages, was dismissed with prejudice, meaning Trump cannot refile or amend it. The judge ruled that the lawsuit was based on an article reporting that Trump allegedly sent a birthday message to Jeffrey Epstein.
The court found that Trump's claims lacked legal merit. The judge criticized the lawsuit as an attempt to "grasping at straws," highlighting that the article in question was a factual report, not defamation. The ruling was issued by U.S. District Judge Darrin Gayles.
This marks a significant legal setback for Trump, who has repeatedly challenged media outlets over stories involving Epstein. The case followed a 2022 article in The Wall Street Journal that detailed the alleged birthday message. Trump had previously filed a similar lawsuit against the publication, which was also dismissed. The latest ruling adds to a pattern of legal challenges that have been unsuccessful for the former president.
