Two men from Massachusetts avoided jail time after pleading guilty to setting off fireworks in an empty Harvard Medical School building. The incident occurred in early September, when the men allegedly ignited fireworks inside the campus facility. Authorities responded swiftly, deploying police and emergency services to the scene. The explosion caused significant damage to the building and raised concerns among students and staff.
The men, identified only by their first names, were arrested shortly after the incident. They faced charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. Their plea deal resulted in a suspended sentence and mandatory community service. The Harvard Medical School has not yet released an official statement on the matter.
This is not the first time the campus has faced such incidents. In 2021, a similar event led to a temporary closure of parts of the campus and a review of security measures. The recent case has sparked discussions about campus safety and the need for stricter enforcement of regulations regarding unauthorized activities on university grounds.
