A drone developed by Ukraine’s military is being tested on the front lines to evacuate injured soldiers. The unmanned vehicle, called “StarGate,” features six propellers and a stretcher to transport wounded troops. The test took place in an undisclosed location in Ukraine, where the drone lifted a weighted stretcher simulating a soldier in body armor.
The drone is part of Ukraine’s efforts to improve battlefield medical response. It is designed to quickly transport injured personnel to safer zones, reducing exposure to enemy fire. Officials have not disclosed the exact number of drones in production or deployment, but the test marks a significant step in integrating advanced technology into military operations.
This development comes amid ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, where the need for rapid evacuation of wounded soldiers has become critical. Previous attempts to use drones for medical evacuation have faced technical and logistical challenges. The StarGate drone aims to address these issues with improved stability and payload capacity. The test is the first public demonstration of the technology, highlighting Ukraine’s growing reliance on innovation in the face of sustained warfare.
