Ava Kroeker and Aleah Kamerman, two young people from southeast Manitoba, have started a new line dancing group called Silver Line Dancing. The initiative aims to introduce line dancing to a younger audience in the region. The group began as a personal project to make dance more accessible and engaging for local youth.
The two friends, both in their early twenties, noticed a lack of dance opportunities for younger people in their community. They decided to create a space where young people could learn and enjoy line dancing. The group meets regularly in a local community center.
Line dancing has a long tradition in Manitoba, often associated with social events and community gatherings. However, the founders of Silver Line Dancing believe that the style has not been widely adopted by younger generations. They hope to change that by making the dance more appealing and inclusive.
The project reflects a growing trend in Manitoba to support youth engagement through creative and cultural activities. By focusing on dance, the group aims to foster community spirit and provide a fun, active way for young people to connect. The initiative is still in its early stages, with plans to expand the group and possibly host public performances.
