Air Canada and United Airlines have signed a new agreement to renew and expand their joint venture for flights between Canada and the United States. The deal, announced in Montreal, aims to enhance connectivity between the two countries by increasing the number of flights operated under the partnership. The joint venture, which has been in place for several years, allows both airlines to operate flights under each other’s brand, improving the passenger experience and operational efficiency.
The agreement includes provisions for increased frequency on key routes, particularly between major Canadian cities and U.S. Hubs. Air Canada will continue to operate flights under the United Airlines brand, while United will maintain its presence under Air Canada’s name. The partnership is expected to benefit travelers by offering more options and better service.
The joint venture between Air Canada and United Airlines has been a key part of transborder travel for years. Initially launched in 2001, the agreement has evolved to meet changing market demands and regulatory requirements. This renewal reflects the ongoing importance of cross-border air travel between Canada and the United States, particularly for business and leisure travelers. The new terms are expected to take effect in early 2025, with full implementation by the end of the year.
