A man has been charged with additional offenses following a fatal collision on Mayor Avenue in St. John’s. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) confirmed the charges after a single-vehicle crash occurred near the intersection of Mayor Avenue and Newtown Road on June 12. The incident resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man, with two other passengers sustaining injuries.

The RNC responded to the collision report and initiated an investigation. The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two injured were transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently reviewing the circumstances of the crash and the role of impaired driving. The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed, is expected to appear in court for further proceedings.

This incident marks the second fatal collision involving impaired driving in the region this year. In May, a similar crash on Route 450 near St. John’s led to the death of a 32-year-old man. Both cases have prompted renewed calls for stricter enforcement of impaired driving laws. Local officials have emphasized the need for increased awareness and community support to prevent such tragedies.
