Quebec voters cast ballots in provincial election

Quebec residents began voting in their provincial election on Monday, with over 4 million eligible voters expected to participate. The election, held every four years, determines the composition of the Quebec National Assembly. Early voting was available at more than 1,200 locations across the province, including community centers, libraries, and schools.

The election features 103 seats up for grabs, with candidates from major parties such as the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ), Parti Québécois (PQ), and Liberal Party competing for control of the legislature. Polls suggest a tight race, with the CAQ leading in several key ridings. Voters will also decide on several local issues, including municipal elections in major cities like Montreal and Quebec City.

This election follows a period of political uncertainty, with recent changes in leadership and shifting public opinion on economic and social policies. The outcome could influence Quebec’s role in national politics and its approach to issues such as healthcare, education, and environmental regulation. The results are expected to be announced on Sunday.
