A Calgary Transit bus collided with a truck on Thursday, leading to a fire that killed three people and injured 16 others. The incident occurred on Saddle Ridge, a residential area of Calgary. Police have confirmed the collision was the direct cause of the fire.

The bus, carrying passengers, struck the truck at a crosswalk. The impact caused a fuel leak, which ignited upon contact with the truck’s engine. Emergency services arrived quickly but were unable to prevent the fire from spreading. Three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the second major incident involving a Calgary Transit bus this year. In March, a similar collision in the same area resulted in one fatality. Authorities are now reviewing safety protocols for public transportation in Calgary.

The incident has raised questions about road safety and emergency response in the region. A full investigation is ongoing, with officials expected to release a report within the next month. The victims’ families have not yet been officially notified.
