Ontario Parks has released its annual fall colour report, offering visitors a guide to the best locations for viewing autumn foliage across the province. The report, developed in collaboration with CBC meteorologist Colette Kennedy, highlights key provincial parks where peak leaf colour is expected.
The guide includes a map of recommended trails and parks, with dates for optimal viewing based on historical data and current weather patterns. Parks in the eastern part of the province, including Algonquin and Pinery, are predicted to reach peak colour earlier than usual. Kennedy noted that warmer temperatures have shifted the timing of leaf change, advising visitors to plan trips accordingly.
This year’s report marks the first time the province has integrated real-time weather data with traditional seasonal forecasts. The update reflects changes in climate patterns observed over the past decade, with earlier autumn colours becoming more common. Ontario Parks aims to help visitors make informed decisions about when and where to experience the fall colours.
The guide is part of a broader initiative to promote sustainable tourism and protect natural landscapes. By providing accurate information, the province hopes to reduce overcrowding at popular sites while encouraging exploration of lesser-known areas.
