A man was captured on surveillance footage stealing from a retail store in Clarenville, Newfoundland, on October 15. The video shows him entering the store between 7:00 p.M. And 7:30 p.M. He picks up an item and hides it. RCMP are investigating and have shared the footage to help identify the suspect.
The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, wearing a dark jacket and jeans. The footage captures him leaving the store shortly after. RCMP have not yet released the suspect’s name or any other identifying details. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
This is not the first time surveillance footage has been used in theft investigations in Newfoundland. In 2023, similar footage helped identify a suspect in a shoplifting case in St. John’s. The use of surveillance technology has become more common as stores upgrade security systems. Police in the region have also announced plans to introduce body cameras for officers by 2027, as part of broader efforts to improve transparency and accountability.
