An air ambulance from Ontario crashed off the eastern U.S. Coast over the weekend. The United States Coast Guard has suspended the search for six people aboard the aircraft. All passengers are presumed dead.
The crash occurred in international waters near the coast of North Carolina. The aircraft, operated by a Canadian-based emergency services provider, was en route to a medical facility in the U.S. When it went down. No distress call was received before the incident.
This is the second such crash involving an Ontario-based air ambulance in less than a year. The previous incident, in March 2024, resulted in the deaths of four crew members. Both crashes have raised questions about the safety protocols of private emergency medical transport services.
